Do i need to go to a dentist immediately?

I chipped my back molar today, more like a big chunk came out. I was only eating a burrito :/ i was having shooting pain for a year and my last check up my dentist said it was nothing, which was a year ago. Did my tooth rot?, its broken all the way up to my gum and sharp as hell. It doesnt hurt though, what's going on?
